Is it permissible to use illuminated or photoluminescent signs instead of standard escape sign luminaires?

Illuminated signs are only permitted if the sign has an illuminance of min. 50 lx, preferably 80 lx

and the light source is part of the safety lighting. Photoluminescent signs are not permitted in areas where safety lighting is required.
